Students need to know their addition and subtraction math facts through 12s.  Parents, you can help by purchasing math fact cards ($1 a pack at Target) and practicing nightly until your child has mastered.  If your child is still counting on their fingers, have them build numbers using pennies and making partner pairs (ie: 2 pennies + 8 pennies = 10 pennies; 3 pennies + 7 pennies = 10 pennies; etc.)
