Welcome to Catherine Funk's Webpage!
My name is Catherine Funk and I teach 6th grade science, 7th grade science, 6th grade electives (Study Skills and Art/Design) and 7th/8th Studio Art at Southport Elementary School.
This is my second year of teaching and previous to this I student taught at Luther Burbank High School in South Sacramento. I completed my teaching credential in Biological Sciences at California State University, Sacramento in Spring of 2016 and before that I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences concentrating in Marine Biology from the University of California, Davis.
Before teaching, I worked with children aged 2 months to 18 years in various environments, from recreation, to daycare, to tutoring. I have been an overnight camp counselor for middle and high school students, a manager of ten different summer camps, a math tutor, and a teacher for a class of toddlers.
In the near future, I plan to earn my Masters degree in Education to better my skills in the classroom and to improve as an educator for my students.
