Friday, February 24th is Free Dress Day. The theme, which is optional, is career day. You can dress as the career you want when you grow up!

March 1st is the last day of the second trimester. You will receive your child's report card the third week of March.

We will be having a Valentine's Day party on February 14th. Students should bring 20 valentine cards, and just write their name on it. If you would like to send a treat for everyone to share, please do so. We appreciate all the support from our wonderful families. We have 21 students in the class.

Classroom News

Welcome to Ms. Johnson's first grade classroom! This is my fourteenth year teaching and I have taught grades from Kindergarten up through eighth grade. This is my second year teaching first grade.

Math Program: Our math program is called Go Math, and we piloted this program last spring, and are officially starting it this year. Students will be using addition and subtraction within 20 to solve problems.

Language Arts: Reading and writing are the most important skills your first grader will need to focus on this year. Please ensure that your child reads their decodables every night (or books at their level if they are past decodables). Please make flash cards and have them study their word list every night. There is A LOT to learn in first grade!!
