Dear Southport Families and Friends,
At Southport Elementary School we think it is important that families and schools work together to help students achieve high academic standards. We encourage a process that includes teachers, families, students and community representatives working together to provide a high quality curriculum and instruction. Opportunities are provided for all students to meet the state’s proficient and advanced levels of academic achievement. We are here to motivate students with the highest expectations and to help students develop a love of learning.
We have approximately 850 students at our Kindergarten through eighth grade school. All Southport Elementary School’s teachers are certified as highly qualified teachers. Our very own Washington Unified School District provides ongoing professional development for our support staff and teachers.
Southport PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is a vital part of our school. The group meets once a month and holds two major fundraisers a year. They support teachers and students in a variety of ways. The group arranges for guest speakers on various educational related topics for parents and students. They support the computer labs and classroom needs. They sponsor Back to School Night, Open House, Duck Dollar Store, Kindergarten Orientation for new incoming parents, Sixth Grade Orientation, Eighth Grade Orientation for ninth grade transition to high school and many more crucial activities.
Southport is the home of the ducks and we are proud of our staff and students. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email if you have any questions or concerns. I have an open door policy and I look forward in working with you and your children.
