We are excited to announce a partnership with Walk Sacramento’s Safe Routes to School Program. Walk Sacramento, the City of West Sacramento, Washington Unified School District, and Southport Elementary staff and parents will work together to survey and evaluate any barriers or safety conditions to help improve and support safe routes to schools. Please click here for a brief survey to share your thoughts about your child walking or riding a bike to school. Your feedback will help us identify areas of concern as we develop safer routes to school for all students and families. Thank you for your help to ensure safety for our Southport community.

According to the state of California, more than three absences a year is excessive. Please help your child have excellent attendance by scheduling routine doctor and dental appointments during school breaks if possible. Please also schedule family vacations while students are on a break. If you know your student will miss five or more consecutive days of school, please contact the Southport office for information on Independent Study. This will give teachers a chance to put a packet of assignments together so your child does not miss important learning opportunities. Please call all illnesses and absences in to the office. We also have an answering machine turned on 24 hours a day to report absences. Thanks!!
